How to enable or disable a WhatsApp AI agent ​

After you create an AI agent, you turn it on or off per line. In AvenPing, open Automation → AI Agents. On the agent card, use the switch labeled On or Off. Or click Edit, open Settings, and toggle AI Agent under Core Settings. AI Agents stays behind the Enterprise ai-agents-lock gate.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open AI Agents
    Sign in at app.avenping.com. Open Automation → AI Agents. Each card shows the agent name (or Untitled agent), line, type badge (General, Sales, Support, or Recommendation), and Enabled or Disabled.

  2. Toggle from the card
    Use the switch at the bottom of the card. The label next to it is On when enabled and Off when disabled. Success toasts: AI agent enabled or AI agent disabled. The badge updates to Enabled or Disabled.

  3. Or open the detail page
    Click Edit on the card. The page title is AI Agent. Click Back to return to the list. Left nav includes Persona, Style guide, Documents, Website Feeds, FAQs, Actions, Usage, Credits, and Settings.

  4. Toggle AI Agent in Settings
    Open Settings. Under Core Settings, find AI Agent with helper text Responds to messages not handled by chatbots. Use the switch. Toasts are AI agent enabled or AI agent disabled. Optional switches on this tab (Web Search, Voice Message Transcription, Interactive Buttons, Clickable Links, Enable Human Support) stay disabled while the agent itself is off.

  5. Disable from the card trash control
    On the list card, the trash control’s accessible name is Disable agent. It disables the agent (toast AI agent disabled); it does not remove the card from the list by a separate delete label. Confirm Disabled / Off after it finishes.

TIP

Enable the agent only after Persona and knowledge tabs are ready. Chatbots that use All messages stay blocked while an AI agent is on for that line.

If you are not on Enterprise, you never reach this page. Feature Locked explains that AI Agents is an Enterprise feature; use Upgrade to Enterprise.

FAQ ​

Where is enable/disable on the detail page?

Settings → Core Settings → AI Agent. That switch is the same enabled flag as the list card On / Off control.

Why are Web Search and other Settings switches disabled?

They require the agent to be on. Turn AI Agent on first; then Web Search, Voice Message Transcription, Interactive Buttons, Clickable Links, and Enable Human Support can be changed.

Does the trash icon delete the agent?

The control is labeled Disable agent. It turns the agent off (AI agent disabled). Use Edit and Settings to rename, change Type, or turn it back on.
