How to create a delay WhatsApp event
A delay event sends an approved WhatsApp template after a contact has been inactive. In AvenPing, open Automation → Events, click Create Event, keep Trigger Type on Delay, set Delay after inactivity and Unit (Minutes, Hours, or Days), choose a template, then Create Event.

Step-by-step
Open Events
Sign in at app.avenping.com. In the left sidebar, open Automation → Events. The page title is Events. Optionally filter by line.Click Create Event
Click Create Event. The modal title is Create Event. Subtitle: Schedule WhatsApp messages based on delay or date triggers. If you have more than one active line, set Phone number.Configure Trigger as Delay
On Configure Trigger, leave Trigger Type as Delay. Set Delay after inactivity (minimum 30 minutes, maximum 30 days) and Unit: Minutes, Hours, or Days. Helper text: the message is sent after the delay once the contact has been inactive for 20 minutes, and the delay is in addition to that inactivity window. Click Next.Choose Template and variables
On Choose Template, pick an approved template under Select Template. Click Next. On Configure Variables, map placeholders such as{{1}}if the template has them. Variables are optional when the template has no placeholders. Click Next.Review and Create Event
On Review, enter Event Name (placeholder:Welcome flow after first message). Check Summary for Trigger, Template, and Variables. Click Create Event. The table Trigger column shows Delay; Status is Active. Use Toggle Active to turn it off. Edit currently shows Editing events will be available soon.
TIP
Default delay on open is 30 Minutes. Raise the amount or switch Unit to Hours or Days if you need a longer wait.
WARNING
The delay is in addition to 20 minutes of contact inactivity. Do not set a delay below 30 minutes.
FAQ
When does the delay message actually send?
After the contact is inactive for 20 minutes, AvenPing waits the Delay after inactivity you set (Minutes, Hours, or Days), then sends the selected template.
Can I use Date instead of Delay?
Yes. On Configure Trigger, click Date and pick a date contact attribute. See How to create a date-triggered WhatsApp event.
How do I stop a delay event?
In the Events table, open the row menu and click Toggle Active, or use Deactivate Event. Status becomes Inactive.
