How to create a WhatsApp carousel or catalogue template ​

A WhatsApp carousel template shows 2–10 swipeable cards. Catalogue, Single Product Catalogue Message, and Multi-Product Catalogue Message open your product catalog in WhatsApp. In AvenPing, create them from Broadcast → Templates → Create Template with Category Marketing and the matching Template Type.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open Create Template
    Sign in at app.avenping.com. Open Broadcast → Templates and click Create Template. Pick the line if you have more than one.

  2. Set Basic Information
    Enter Template Name and Language. Set Category to Marketing. Optional: click Verification Rules. Set Template Type to Carousel, Catalogue, Single Product Catalogue Message, or Multi-Product Catalogue Message.

  3. Build a Carousel (2–10 cards)
    For Carousel, the form shows Media Card Carousel or Product Card Carousel. Click Add Card (n/10). You need at least two cards and at most ten. On Card 1, set Header Format (applies to all cards) to Image, Video, or Product. Upload the required header media on each media card. Body Text (Optional) must stay consistent across cards if you add it. Buttons (Optional, up to 2) can be Quick Reply, URL, or Phone Number, and the same button types must appear on every card.

  4. Configure Catalogue, SPM, or MPM
    Catalogue has no header and one fixed View catalog button. Single Product Catalogue Message uses a product header and one fixed View button. Multi-Product Catalogue Message uses one fixed View items button. Product IDs are picked later when you send.

  5. Write Body and check the preview
    Fill Body (Required) for the message above the cards or catalog button. Add example values for any {{1}} placeholders. Check the live preview on the right.

  6. Submit and wait for Meta approval
    Click Create Template. Do not use the template in Create Campaign until the Templates table shows APPROVED.

TIP

For media carousels, all cards must share the same header format, body pattern, and button types. Change Header Format on Card 1 only — it applies to every card.

WARNING

Product carousel headers are fixed to PRODUCT. You pick product IDs while sending, not in this form.

FAQ ​

How many carousel cards can I add?

Between 2 and 10. Add Card disables at 10. You cannot remove cards below 2.

What is the difference between Carousel and Catalogue?

Carousel is a swipeable set of media or product cards. Catalogue opens your full catalog with a View catalog button and does not use a header component.

Can Utility or Authentication use carousel types?

No. Template Type appears only when Category is Marketing. Utility, Marketing Lite, and Authentication use the buttons-style form.
