How to set WhatsApp opt-out keywords

Opt-out keywords are words a contact can reply so you stop messaging them. In AvenPing, open Settings → WhatsApp, add keywords under Opt-out Keywords (press Enter or comma; example STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE), set Opt-out duration in months (minimum 2), then click Save duration.

Prerequisites

Step-by-step

  1. Open WhatsApp settings
Go to Settings → WhatsApp. Scroll to Opt-out Keywords.

  2. Add keywords
Type a word and press Enter or comma. Placeholder examples are STOP and UNSUBSCRIBE. Contacts who reply with any of these words are opted out of messages.

  3. Remove a keyword if needed
Click the X on a chip (Remove {keyword}). Changes save as you edit.

  4. Set Opt-out duration
Under Opt-out duration, enter months (minimum 2). After that period they can receive messages again unless they opt out again. Click Save duration.

TIP

Paid plans typically append Reply STOP to opt-out. on template footers. Keep STOP in your keyword list so that footer matches behavior.

FAQ

What happens when someone replies STOP?

AvenPing opts them out for the duration you saved. Campaigns and automations should not message them until that period ends or they opt in again by policy.

Can I use a duration shorter than 2 months?

No. The field minimum is 2 months.

Is this the same as Block User?

No. Block locks the inbox composer. Opt-out is a marketing/automation suppression based on keywords.
