How to block or unblock a WhatsApp contact ​

Blocking stops outbound WhatsApp messages to that contact from AvenPing. When blocked, the composer shows Can't send message and This contact is blocked. Click Unblock to send again. You can also use Block User / Unblock User in contact info.

Prerequisites ​

  • Access to Messages and permission to block contacts.
  • Understand that blocking is an AvenPing/inbox action for this line, not a substitute for Meta policy enforcement.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open the conversation
    Go to Messages and select the chat. Open contact info.

  2. Block the contact
    Click Block User. The composer is replaced by the blocked banner.

  3. Read the blocked composer
    You will see Can't send message and This contact is blocked. with Unblock to send messages.

  4. Unblock when you need to reply
    Click Unblock on the banner or Unblock User in contact info. Then type in Type a message or send a template as usual.

WARNING

Blocking does not delete the contact or their history. Disable or delete the contact from Contacts if you need that instead.

FAQ ​

Does blocking stop inbound WhatsApp messages?

The composer is locked for sending. Inbound handling still follows WhatsApp. Review the thread after you unblock.

Is this the same as Disable contact?

No. Disable is a Contacts-table action. Block is the inbox composer lock with Can't send message.

Can agents unblock?

If they have permission and see Unblock on the banner, yes. Otherwise an admin must unblock.
