How to create a date-triggered WhatsApp event ​

A date event sends an approved WhatsApp template when a contact date attribute falls on the schedule. In AvenPing, open Automation → Events, click Create Event, set Trigger Type to Date, choose Date attribute, optionally tick Repeat every year/month, pick a template, then Create Event.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open Events
    Sign in at app.avenping.com. In the left sidebar, open Automation → Events. Click Create Event. If you have more than one active line, set Phone number.

  2. Set Trigger Type to Date
    On Configure Trigger, click Date. Under Date attribute, choose an attribute from Select date attribute. Helper text: use a contact attribute of type Date; messages send when the date falls in the schedule. Click Next only after an attribute is selected.

  3. Optional: Repeat every year/month
    Tick Repeat every year/month if the event should recur. Then set Repeat period: Monthly (same day each month) or Yearly (same day & month each year). Leave the checkbox off to send once. If recurrence is on without a period, AvenPing asks you to select monthly or yearly.

  4. Choose Template and variables
    On Choose Template, pick an approved template under Select Template. Click Next. On Configure Variables, fill placeholders if the template includes {{1}} and similar. Click Next.

  5. Review and Create Event
    On Review, enter Event Name. Summary shows Date plus the attribute and (once), (monthly), or (yearly). Click Create Event. The table Trigger column shows Date; Trigger config looks like Date: birthday (yearly). Edit still shows Editing events will be available soon. Use Toggle Active to pause.

TIP

Create the Date attribute before this wizard. The Date attribute list only includes attributes whose type is Date.

WARNING

If you tick Repeat every year/month, you must pick Monthly (same day each month) or Yearly (same day & month each year) before Next.

FAQ ​

What happens if I skip Repeat every year/month?

The event runs once when the date matches. The Events table Trigger config shows the attribute with (once).

Why is Date attribute empty?

You need a contact attribute whose type is Date. Create it first, then reopen Create Event. See How to create contact attributes.

How is this different from a delay event?

Delay waits after 20 minutes of inactivity plus your delay amount. Date uses a contact Date attribute and optional monthly or yearly recurrence. See How to create a delay WhatsApp event.
