How to create a WhatsApp message template ​

A WhatsApp message template is a pre-approved message format you can send outside the 24-hour customer service window. In AvenPing, create it from Broadcast → Templates → Create Template, then wait until Meta marks it approved before campaigns or inbox sends.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open Templates
    Sign in at app.avenping.com. In the left sidebar, open Broadcast → Templates.

  2. Click Create Template
    Click Create Template. If you have more than one WhatsApp line, choose the line in the create modal. Templates are stored per line.

  3. Fill Basic Information
    Enter Template Name, Language, and Category: Marketing, Marketing Lite, Utility, or Authentication. Marketing Lite is an AvenPing category submitted to Meta as Utility, with the same Utility limits and custom pricing for light marketing.

  4. Choose a Marketing template type (Marketing only)
    For Marketing, set Template Type: Buttons, Single Product Catalogue Message, Carousel, Catalogue, Multi-Product Catalogue Message, or Limited Time Offer. Utility, Marketing Lite, and Authentication use a buttons-style form. Optional: click Verification Rules to read Meta constraints.

  5. Configure Header, Body, Footer, and Buttons
    Set Header to TEXT, IMAGE, VIDEO, DOCUMENT, or PRODUCT as allowed for the type. Write the required Body (placeholders like {{1}}) and add example values. Add Footer and buttons if needed. Check the live preview on the right.

  6. Submit and wait for Meta approval
    Click Create Template. The templates table shows the Meta review status. Do not use the template in a campaign or the inbox until it is approved.

TIP

Keep names lowercase with underscores (for example order_update). Provide realistic variable examples. Promotional copy in Utility or Authentication often gets rejected.

What is Marketing Lite?

Marketing Lite is an AvenPing category. AvenPing submits it to Meta as Utility so it follows Utility quality limits and can deliver faster, with AvenPing custom pricing for light marketing.

Can I use a template before Meta approves it?

No. Campaigns and inbox template sends only list approved templates. Wait until the templates table shows approval.

Can I edit a template after I create it?

Open the row menu on Broadcast → Templates. Actions are Preview, Edit, and Delete. There is no Duplicate action. Edit opens a modal titled Edit Template; submit is Update Template when the status allows changes.
