How to turn a WhatsApp event on or off

Events have Draft, Active, or Disabled status. Open Automation → Events, use the row menu Turn off / on to pause or resume, Continue editing to finish a draft, or Delete permanently to remove the event.

Prerequisites

Step-by-step

  1. Open Events
Sign in at app.avenping.com. Open Automation → Events. Columns include Event Name, When it sends, Status, Sent / Failed / Skipped, Message template, Phone Number, and Created At. Search with Search by name or template.

  2. Read Status
Active is sending. Draft is unfinished (typical for Custom webhook before Activate event). Disabled is turned off. Pause reasons under the badge can show Paused — add wallet balance, Paused — template issue, Paused — number banned, Paused — number removed, or Paused — plan expired.

  3. Turn off or on
Open the row menu. Click Turn off / on. Hidden on Draft rows. Toast: Event disabled when leaving Active, or Event activated when leaving Disabled.

  4. Continue a draft
On a Draft row, click Continue editing. The modal title is Continue Event Draft. Finish the wizard and click Start event or Activate event.

  5. Delete
Row menu Delete permanently, or select rows and Delete Event. Toast: Event deleted. This cannot be undone.

TIP

Fix Paused — add wallet balance by adding wallet funds, then Turn off / on to activate again. Template and line pauses need a valid template and connected number.

WARNING

Delete permanently removes the event and its remaining scheduled sends. Prefer Turn off / on if you might resume.

FAQ

Why is Turn off / on missing?

It is hidden while Status is Draft. Finish the wizard with Continue editing, or delete the draft.

Can I edit an Active event?

The list does not open a full editor for Active events. Turn it off, or delete and create a new event with the same trigger.

What do Sent / Failed / Skipped mean?

Counts of template sends Meta accepted, sends that failed after retries, and occurrences skipped (for example the plan expired or the contact no longer matches).
