How to delay a WhatsApp chatbot step

Drag Delay from Data Blocks. Set Delay Duration and Delay Unit, then connect the next message. This pauses the flow, not an Events follow-up.

Prerequisites

Step-by-step

  1. Open the chatbot
    Open Automation → Chatbots. Edit.

  2. Drag Delay
Components → Data Blocks → Delay. Place it between two nodes.

  3. Set Delay Duration
    Fill Delay Duration.

  4. Set Delay Unit
Fill Delay Unit (minutes, hours, or days as the dropdown allows).

  5. Save
Connect the outbound handle. Click Save.

TIP

For line-wide follow-ups after any inbound message, use Automation → Events instead. See How to send a WhatsApp follow-up after someone messages you.

WARNING

A long delay can expire the 24-hour window. Follow a delay with Send Template if needed.

FAQ

Delay node vs Events?

The Delay node waits inside one chatbot run. An event waits across conversations using the Events engine.
