How to send a date-based WhatsApp event ​

A Based on a date event sends an approved WhatsApp template on, before, or after a contact date. In AvenPing, open Automation → Events, click Create Event, choose Based on a date, pick Contact date, set timing and how often, then Start event.

Step-by-step ​

  1. Open Create Event
    Sign in at app.avenping.com. Open Automation → Events. Click Create Event. Set the WhatsApp line if you have more than one.

  2. Choose Based on a date
    On Trigger, fill Event name. Under When should this message send?, click Based on a date. Description: Birthday, renewal, appointment, or the day they were added.

  3. Pick Contact date
    Under Contact date, choose Contact created date or any saved Date attribute. Helper text: choose when the contact was added or any saved date field. Placeholder: Choose a contact date.

  4. Set When around that date?
    Pick On the date (send that day), Before the date (a reminder ahead of time), or After the date (a follow-up afterward). For before/after, set How long before? or How long after? and Time unit: Hours, Days, Months, or Years. Optional: Send at a specific time (optional) with Select time. Leave empty to keep the contact’s date time. AvenPing never sends in the past; if that moment already went by, it waits for the next upcoming date. Monthly dates 29–31 that do not exist roll to the 1st of the next month.

  5. Choose How often, audience, template, then Start event
    Pick Send once, Repeat a few times, or Keep repeating. Click Next. On Audience, choose Everyone on this number or Only matching contacts. On Template, pick an approved template. Fill Variables if needed. On Review, check When (for example On the day they were added or 2 days before their birthday). Click Start event. Toast: Event activated.

TIP

Create the Date attribute before this wizard if you need birthday or renewal. Contact created date needs no extra attribute.

WARNING

AvenPing never sends for times that already passed. Starting the event turns it on right away.

What is Contact created date?

The day the contact was added in AvenPing. Use it for onboarding sequences without a custom Date attribute.

How is this different from After they message you?

Why is my Date attribute missing?
